What is counselling?
Counselling gives an opportunity to talk to a qualified professional in a confidential and neutral environment. It allows the expression of concerns and feelings about problems that may be troubling you.
My role is to help you find your own solutions to your problems, and where appropriate, to explore the connections these problems might have to past experiences.
Some of the issues often explored in counselling are:
- depression and anxiety
- relationship difficulties
- issues resulting from physical illness
- self harm and substance abuse
How long will sessions last?
Each counselling session lasts 50 minutes. Many people come to weekly sessions for 6 – 8 weeks, concentrating on a particular immediate problem. Others may choose to continue for a longer period should they wish to explore their issues further.
Confidentiality will be maintained unless I am concerned for your safety or the safety of others. I will discuss this issue with you in the first session.
